He co-hosted fishing TV shows such as Florida Sportsman TV, Shallow Water Angler TV, and hosts conservation interviews on Florida Sportsman Waterman.
Mike was an on-the-water volunteer for The Nature Conservancy, in-the-field water quality monitor in Everglades National Park in the early 90s, served as state board member of Florida Conservation Association (FCA) and Coastal Conservation Association Florida (CCA Florida). He is presently a leadership team board member for Rivers Coalition, Inc.
The Florida Outdoor Writers Association (FOWA) presented him a Lifetime Achievement Award for editorial work in 2007. Personal interests include fly fishing, fly tying, photography, environmental sciences, nature viewing, physical fitness, gardening and cooking. He and his wife Michelle presently live in Port St. Lucie, and have a combined four children and six grandchildren.
He is the former owner of Mean Tide Media LLC which produced the digital publication, Fly & Light Tackle Angler. Until just recently he and his wife Michelle directed the Florida Sportsman Magazine Expo, and Mike is Florida Sportsman’s Conservation Editor with a monthly column.
He was an editorial staff member for Florida Sportsman for 18 years, and past work has appeared in Fishing Tackle Retailer, Game & Fish, Fly Fishing in Saltwaters, Fly Fusion, Fly Fisherman, Angling Trade and Fly Rod & Reel.
